Last week we had a few coolish days - coolish means 80's. It was nice to spend some time outside in what I like to refer to as reasonable temperature. Our summer this year has been very HOT. So August temperatures in the 80's are a welcome surprise.
I have a number of quilts that I haven't quite got around to photographing. Since the weather was cooperating and I was at my mom's for a few days where there are lots of interesting backdrops to choose from, I decided it would be a good time to at least get a couple of them photographed.
This one was completed earlier in the year and it's one of my favorites. The color palette and tone are very much me. But my very favorite thing about it is the pink and brown floral backing fabric. I love this fabric. I bought extra, but should have bought much more than I did.
It measures 75 x 75 and generally hangs out at the end of our guest room bed where we all take naps as the mood strikes.
Have a great week.

Oh, Cuz! I love finding out how much we have in common after all these yrs. Isn't it fun to find out we are related in so many ways?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE browns...so glad they are considered a neutral these days. It's abt to overtake green as my fave! The brown and PINK backing fabric is so gorgeous. Also, I'm such a quilter-wannabe. Recently, bought a small baby quilt to make but got discouraged immediately. A quilter told me (a bit late) that many times a painter often has trouble being precise enough to quilt. I can understand that. I still would like to do it! I'm soooo impressed w/ this beautiful quilt you made.
Thank you. So glad you like it. But you talked to the wrong quilter. :) You can be a quilter and a painter. Approach making the quilt the same way you would a painting, but use fabric and thread. It doesn't have to be precise. The ones I've shown lately are, but most of the work I currently do isn't. We'll have to get together so you can teach me to paint and I can teach you to quilt. :)!
